During the last 15 years my journey with the “Yoga Saki’’ has taken me from Alberta to Bowser, on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia. From a young age in Kitimat, Northern British Columbia, I began to explore many art forms and from there, I have dabbled in many. Recently retired, I look forward to exploring further, the many avenues of my creative journey. My passion is creating unique pieces that are pleasing to the eye using repurposed materials wherever possible.
Oscar Wilde once said…”It’s beauty that captures your attention, personality which captures your heart!”
The Yoga Saki is a yoga/pilates mat bag that offers a twist from the commercially sold bags and is constructed from new and quality repurposed fabrics. This unique bag was born in Calgary and with ideas from my spouse and nieces it quickly came to be under the umbrella of “Seams Simple by Sue”. The creation of the Saki has been a bit like an artist putting paint on a canvas….realizing that something special can come from putting together varied colours and fabric types. Over time, the Yoga Saki has proven the ease of transporting and protecting your mat, through its popularity. All of the bags are handcrafted by myself, with pride and ownership. Made to easily fit the Manduka mat, measurements include length of 28.5 inches, circumference 22 inches and diameter being 7 inches. The fully-lined Yoga Saki has an adjustable strap, two front pockets and a top pull-type closure that is adorned with an assortment of beads and/or whimsical embellishments. While the Yoga Saki is sold online it also retails at various markets across British Columbia.
My Cards are individually designed and then combined with pre-made card stock. There are two different sized options and each are enclosed with quality envelopes. The cards are crafted using watercolours, pen-and-ink, eco-printing or a combination of all three. Using these mediums allows me to apply the intricate designs that I feel and that motivate me.
