Ray Friesen

Ray was raised in a small Mennonite town in Manitoba, crossed the Rockies in his 20’s and never looked back. I fell in love with the West Coast!

I have always loved beach combing and considered myself a little bit of a rock-hound. While I was looking for unique rocks, I came across thousands of pieces of beach-glass and thought “What can I make with that?"

Ray is inspired by the beauty of Nature; the beach; the mountains ... the people he meets and the places he wanders.

What surprises him most? That the whole process comes from within. I don’t always know the final product. I start with one piece of glass and go from there.

When I look back at each finished piece ... I smile and am always amazed at the unfolding.
