Robert Hanson - Picglasso

Robert Hanson has been a furniture and cabinet maker for over 25 years. Sixteen of those years now spent building pieces on the Sunshine Coast. He has also always had a fascination with different forms of glass and how he could incorporate his woodworking skills with glass and make them his own.

A few years ago on a trip to Shanghai, Robert was sitting on a bus, he looked at the ground and there was something radiating a rainbow of light. "That was the impetus to create my window pieces. I chose to create unique pieces, where the light would change with the sun and mood of the day."

Using mostly recycled glass pieces and hand built wood frames, Robert spends many hours over a two to three week period designing and constructing these one of a kind pieces. "To me and with the different light from the sun throughout the day, my pieces become living art".
