Paula Turke
Paula is a passionate crafter, it started when she was taught knitting as a child, and has been a life-long pursuit.
When I look around, I see art wherever I am. A rock, a stick, yarn, beads, shells and so much more. I am forever looking at ways to create a new piece of art.
Most recently I have discovered a passion for Shibari Stones. Adding my own creative touch with a small stick or some beads and even finding a stone with barnacles will surprise and delight me with the result.
I am forever scouring beaches or walking in the woods with my partner who is gracious enough to help me carry – oh so many rocks or sticks, and he never complains. Even going to thrift stores and finding just that right ‘something’ that will make my work into that special piece I am hoping to create will delight me.
Paula came to Vancouver Island from Calgary, for the first time about 20 years ago and fell in love with all it has to offer. Now she has semi-retired here and has more time and lots of coastal inspiration for her craft.
