Nancy Morrison
As a young person I was exploring avenues of alternative medicine which brought me to colour therapy and stained glass.
I have been drawing and painting since the age of five and doing stained glass for over thirty-five years. I am passionate about designing and creating original works.
Nancy does artwork for galleries; commissions for homes, businesses and churches; restorations; and teaches classes. Her work reflects her love of living on the West Coast, with its amazing natural world and creative culture.
I took an evening class in stained glass and took to it right away. I started making things for the window, then explored the many techniques of stained glass and started deigning windows and larger installations in an apprenticeship with the Glasslight Studio where I had taken the class.
Nancy’s work comes from a drive to express how she feels and sees things visually and philosophically, and spans a diverse selection of subjects and styles. From a flower to the cosmos. From realism to the abstract. I like to be fluid with my designs and try to capture the life of a subject with depth and perspective.
Her biggest influences: Artists: Caravaggio, Dali, Van Gogh, Bernini. Music: Leonard Bernstein, Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits, Billie Holiday, Oscar Peterson. Authors: Frijof Capra, Herman Hesse, Rudolf Steiner. Scientists: David Bohm, Benoit Mandelbrot.
My work continues to be a as Milton said, a "perpetual progression".
