Emily Ferris : Elements Gallery
My designs are inspired by all the elements of the West Coast, from waves sending ripples over the sand to new ferns emerging from the forest floor.
Emily grew up surrounded by creativity. Her two grandmothers were Massachusetts based potters, and one grandfather was a famous Cape Cod silver and goldsmith, who designed the renowned Cape Cod Screwball Bracelet. Her other grandfather held the original patent for air-supported structures which formed the basis of major urban stadiums. Emily’s talented father was a well-respected local artist/jeweler, while her mother continues to produce one-of-a-kind pottery pieces. Her brother, Alex Carey, carries on the traditional family line of jewelry, in Victoria, BC.
I use strictly 100% recycled silver and gold to create my jewelry. I purchase all my sterling silver directly from a refinery that uses environmentally responsible practices, and that sources all their silver from scraps from jewelry manufacturing, unwanted jewelry, electronics, and dental crowns. My hope is that my love and enjoyment in making each unique piece of jewelry will be shared by the wearer.
