The Raven Series...
The paintings of the tree ravens: Clifford, Claude and Clarence were inspired by a pair of ravens living in a barn behind our house. Every evening at dusk they would fly in front of us as we walked past. They have been there for over a year and seem to just consider it a great place to live. We had hoped they would nest there and and we'd see babies - but not yet.
As I paint the ravens they each develop their own personality. I always paint the eye last so that it is the final stage of bringing them to life. This series has been one of my favorite while I experimented with different backgrounds for each bird.
