My latest artistic passions bring me full circle, revisiting some of the techniques explored during my early artistic career.
Sue Pyper is a fine artist specializing in watercolour, Pyrography (woodburning) and pointillism, a style of painting that uses many, many ... many small dots. The result is a highly detailed work of intricate colour combinations, textures, and densities that are both life-like and whimsical. Her subject matter is varied and engaging, from detailed animal pictures and touching pet portraits, to abstract drawings inspired by nature. The detail can take many hours to create with larger pieces taking over forty hours to produce.
Sue has been creating art for over thirty years. With artistic skills that range from graphic designer, musician, and artist, to garden design and photographer, few people are able to enjoy a life as infused by creative pursuits.
The majority of her art has been graphic design, and it is only recently that she has returned to her first love of creating beautiful art pieces.
Originally from the UK, Sue graduated from Art & Design College in London, and went on to do a photographic apprenticeship and a City and Guilds in photography. For most of her career in London, she worked as a production manager in West End advertising agencies and then later in magazine production.
In 2000, Sue moved to Canada, and returning to her design roots, and opened a graphic design business. An award-winning songwriter, musician and performer, Sue has produced two albums and has designed album covers for many other musicians. There are few pursuits that are not creative in Sue's world.
Most of Sue's work is inspired by nature and where she lives, in the beautiful Comox Valley on Vancouver Island.
When I am not painting and enjoying the serenity of the acreage I call home, you will find me in the garden, or playing music with friends.
